AUD/CAD

AUD/CAD is a currency pair that pits the Australian dollar against the Canadian dollar. It is generally considered to be a minor currency pair, as it features two major currencies which aren’t the US dollar.

AUD and CAD are two well-known examples of ‘commodity’ currencies – meaning that their prices are often driven by the movements of commodity markets. Australia is a major exporter of iron ore, oil and gold; Canada exports significant amounts of oil, gold and timber.

As such, AUD/CAD often sees price action when commodity markets are on the move.
